Chatham Animal Hospital provides housing and medical care for abandoned kittens. The care of these kittens is subsidized by Chatham Animal Hospital and the non-profit Little Angel Fund. Each Kitten is given the necessary medical care and socialization to ensure that it is a healthy pet* and as well adjusted to human contact as possible. The kittens arrive here from a variety of sources, but are usually brought in by clients or the Cary Animal Control unit. The routine medical care contributed free of charge to the adoptive parents includes:
Intestinal Parasite Exam and Treatment
Detection and Removal of Ear Mites, Fleas, & Ticks
Feline Leukemia Testing
First set of Vaccinations (Distemper & Upper Respiratory)
Housing and Board until Adoption
We ask that any vaccinations, etc. after the above are provided be covered by the adoptive parents. Each kitten is essentially free until the second set of vaccinations, etc. are due. At that time medical/surgical costs apply, however, housing and board are still provided at no cost to the new owner. All costs not charged to the new owner are contributed by Chatham Animal Hospital (50%) and the Little Angel Fund (50%). The Little Angel Fund is supported by voluntary contributions. Short Falls are covered by Chatham Animal Hospital until funds allow reimbursement.
At the time of adoption a $25.00 deposit is charged, which is applied to the next visit. An additional fee of vaccinations at hospital cost, past those charges above is added. Contributions to the Little Angel Fund are welcome but not required. Persons adopting kittens that do not use us for veterinary services are required to pay all of the medical/surgical fees up until the point of physically taking the kitten home. Fifty percent of these fees will be contributed by Chatham Animal Hospital to the Little Angel Fund. Kittens may be reserved for future pick up with a $25.00 deposit. This will be applied to future medical/surgical fees at our hospital in most cases. However, it is non-refundable if a potential owner is not a client or changes their mind.
We hope this program provides many happy hours of pet ownership to as many people as possible. We are excited about giving away as many kittens as we are physically able providing the maximum chance for a great home and good health.

*Any kittens housed together may develop an upper respiratory infection. Although not usually life threatening these infections can be problematic. Our hygiene and medical care is designed to minimize and hopefully eliminate this condition
